I have been immersed in the world of commerce all my life, since I grew and sold lettuces to Clifford's supermarket in town.
I was 13 years old. My mode of transport was a bicycle.

When I left school I joined one of the merchant firms in town where I experienced the broad administrative rolls in business. This included accounts, payroll, sales and stock control.

I eventually became a production manager which was great until the recession hit in the 1980's.

I went back to college part-time and studied computing.

I opened my first business in 1985 selling computers and enjoyed 10 years until this trade changed to a factory direct or large electrical chain sales. I switched to a computer training business.

Running my own training centre was a nice way to make a living but in 1998 when it became an accredited ECDL centre, level of business rocketed. It was now a one product business and I began to lose interest. I did open a cyber cafe during that time but it wasn't really profitable. I even went back to college again and completed a management diploma and followed that with a business degree. I eventually felt a burn out and the word ECDL was the last thing a liked to hear. So much so that I closed it down and headed for Vancouver Canada in 2006.

This was probably the best experience of my life but I knew I would have to return home. When I returned in 2008 it was to a recession hit Ireland where unemployment was growing by the day. The government were offering retraining to a lot of the unemployed and this prompted me to set up as a training contractor whereby I tendered to run some of the business courses and I have enjoyed a lot of success in this field. The economy started to pick up in 2015 and employment levels are growing again. I feel now is another time for change in my business life.
